English Home Language
We are aware that our learners come from diverse cultures and have no specific mother tongue in general. Therefore our Language of teaching and learning is in English.
We highly recommend that learners practice their English proficiency as often as possible.
- Focuses on the development of a range of literary skills that will enable effective communication in a variety of contexts: to be able to listen, speak, read and write.
- Equips one to think and acquire knowledge and to express one’s own identity, feelings and ideas.

Afrikaans First Additional Language – Afrikaans Eerste Addisionele Taal
We offer Afrikaans as an additional language. It is a choice subject from Gr.8 – 10 and compulsory subject for grade 11 – 12.

We offer Setswana as a Home language giving the learners the opportunity to have a high proficiency in more than one language.

Life Orientation
We, at Eagle Christian College teach the full CAPS curriculum from a Biblical world view, empowering our learners to gain moral and values.
- Equips the individual to make informed and responsible choices about themselves, the environment, citizenship, lifestyle, social engagement, physical activity and careers.
- Life Orientation is the study of the self in relation to others and to society.
- It addresses skills, knowledge, and values about the self, the environment, responsible citizenship, a healthy and productive life, social engagement, recreation and physical activity, careers and career choices.
- Opportunities to engage in the development and practice of a variety of life skills to solve problems, to make informed decisions and choices and to take appropriate actions to live meaningfully and successfully in a rapidly changing society.
- It not only focuses on knowledge, but also emphasises the importance of the application of skills and values in real-life situations, participation in physical activity, community organisations and initiatives.
- Life Orientation is one of the four fundamental subjects required for the National Senior Certificate, which means that it is compulsory for all learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12.
- It is a unique subject in that it applies a holistic approach to the personal, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, motor and physical growth and development of learners.
- This encourages the development of a balanced and confident learner who can contribute to a just and democratic society, a productive economy and an improved quality of life for all.
- The subject contains the following six topics in Grades 10 to 12:
- Development of the self in society
- Social and environmental responsibility
- Democracy and human rights
- Careers and career choices
- Study skills
- Physical Education
